Annexe Playgroup

Key-Person System

Due to Government Funding and Ofsted Inspections it is now a requirement to keep written records on all children who attend Pre-School, to enable us to do this effectively we have introduced a Key-Person System.

WHAT IS A KEY-PERSON ?

A Key-Person has a special responsibility for a group of between 4-7 children per session, that she/he is responsible for all written reports and liaising with Parents/Guardians, to make sure all your child’s needs, especially emotional and educational are met within the group.

The Key-Person will observe your child and monitor their progress (all records will be made available for you) and will be handed over to you when your child leaves the playgroup, it is then your choice if you pass these onto your child’s school etc. It is through those observations the Key-Person will be able, with your help, to devise the curriculum/play plan which will best meet your child’s needs.

The Key-Person can also liaise in conjunction with the Parent, with statutory/professional personnel as necessary. (I.e. speech therapist, special needs advisor) etc. A Key-Person is not a substitute for the parent, but there to help where deemed necessary.

The Key-Person will try to make her self available after each session to discuss your child, (confidentiality will be observed at all times) but if she/he is not available, you can arrange an appointment for future tie agreeable to both parties.
